Johann Baptista HOMANN

Homann founded a company in 1702 that dominated the German and international map markets for nearly a century. He produced his first atlas in 1704; his atlases continued to be published by his heirs for decades.

Homann was named as Geographer to the Kaiser of the Holy Roman Empire in 1715 and was later elected to membership in the Prussian Royal Academy of Science.
