Video Introduction to The Flower Discovery of the Month Club

Our Flower Discovery of the Month Club unites twelve of the greatest botanical art works from the genre's four great centuries. These exclusive Perfect Recreations™ of original watercolors by LeMoyne, Merian, Ehret, and Redoute elegantly survey the complete history of Botanical Art.

"Absolutely perfect and magnificent". What Our Customers Say

This unique exchange between science and art began when 16th century exploration brought a wave of previously unknown plant species to the attention of European royalty. Crown Heads and leading merchants spent fortunes commissioning the most accomplished artists to preserve in paintings the fleeting beauty of these rare and transient blooms. We're thrilled to offer the first-ever reproductions of these important original watercolors.

Jacques Le Moyne de Morgues (1533 – 1588) was the first master of botanic art, combining the documentation of scientific discovery with visual delight. The art of Maria Sybilla Merian (1647 – 1717) reflects the turn-of-the century fascination with all things rare and marvelous, including the insects and seashells placed within her flower paintings. The watercolors of Georg Dionysius Ehret (1708 – 1770) are both beautiful and precise and he was the first to use the now standard botanical nomenclature of the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus. The greatest of all botanic artists, Pierre Joseph Redoute (1759 – 1840), produced hundreds of watercolor masterpieces from the spectacular gardens established by Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte at the Chateau Malmaison.
