This definitive 18th century map is accompanied by a richly detailed topographical elevation map drawn and engraved by William Alexander from sketches made on the spot by members of Vancouver's crew. Franz Michael Regenfuss' famous illustrations of exotic seashells stimulated and reflected the great interest of 18th century Europeans in the arrival of elaborate specimens from increasingly distant locales.
