Floridae Americae Provinciae. A Perfect Recreation™ of the copperplate engraving. By Jacques LeMoyne de Morgues. Cartography c. 1564; published 1591. 19" x 15-1/2".

Dispatched by Charles IX to found a French colony in Florida in 1564, Jacques le Moyne accompanied the French explorer Laudonniere on this ill-fated voyage. LeMoyne's task was to map the coastline and harbors, record the topography and document the native customs. LeMoyne was the first artist to visit what is now the continental United States.

This is a beautiful and endlessly fascinating work of art to live with.

"Absolutely perfect and magnificent".
