Thomas Jefferys' map of New England was the first comprehensive and accurate survey of the area -- and one of the earliest large scale regional maps of any part of America prior to the American Revolution. First issued in 1755 from the survey by John Green, it continued to be reprinted and used during and after the Revolutionary War. Jefferys was the leading British chart and mapmaker of the pre-Revolutionary era and the "Geographer to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales".

A Chart of Boston Harbor appears as a detailed inset; and, a colorful cartouche shows an Indian conversing with Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock. The map contains many family names indicating ownership of real estate throughout the region.
