Ivory-billed Woodpecker. A Perfect Recreation™ of the aquatint with original hand color. Drawn from nature by John James Audubon, 1829. Specially framed with ivory silk matte: 37" x 50"
In 1829, Audubon’s Ivory-billed Woodpecker populated the southeastern U.S. and Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Its last confirmed sighting was in 1944 in Louisiana’s Singer Tract, where TPL recently conserved 2,900 acres and now plants more than two million trees to restore the Ivory-billed’s natural habitat. This historically accurate, handcrafted frame has been selected and created by Ædicule to produce the perfect presentation of our Perfect Recreation™ of Audubon's dramatic life-sized rendering of largest of all North American woodpeckers. The classic Louis XVI profile with 23K gilding provides a perfectly proportioned and tasteful frame to match the classicism of the Audubon painting. The texture and richness of the silk pongee-wrapped matte completes the presentation. 100% of the Auction sale price goes directly to The Trust for Public Land."Absolutely perfect and magnificent".
